                            second life

I have been an occasional and sometime denizen of the digital world, Second Life, for a little while now.
During my visits I have been lucky enough to meet some quite extraordinary people from all over the world and made real connections between like minded thinkers and other artists.

My first experience as a builder in Second Life came very early on as I started to teach myself what was what for Burning Life, the digital shadow of Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.

I made a 300mt by 100mt by about 30mt interactive audio visual installation called 'In The Blood' which turned out really well. lots of visitors and lots of compliments.
Bear in mind that I had only just learned to fly, my dress sense was rubbish and I was teaching myself how to make In World movies, machinima.

My second build, as the Sound Designer part of the six person artistic collaborative team 'Fallopian Fighters', was 'Throes of Rapture' an interactive immersive installation for the Creators-in-Residence commission at AngelGate.

The build was a huge success with many hundreds of visitors and also many hundreds of repeat visits by avatars enjoying what turned out to be one of the most restful places in Second Life I have experienced so far.

Physically, if you can use that term for a completely digital experience, Throes took the shape of a massive tube walkway, extending up into the sky, through which avatars travelled, experiencing sounds and shapes as they passed through it.
The final scene was an huge space with gently swaying, moving, trees, grass and butterflies with sounds embedded in them which triggered as an avatar passed by or through.

                            Fallopian Fighters is:
                            Strawberry Holiday prim design
                            WendyofNeverland Fussbudget project manager
                            Moongold Munro sound design
                            Carbon Chaffe scripting
                            Dozzydolly Biziou textures

Since then I have continued to work on sound design projects 'in world', the most recent was for the University of Kentucky, a soundtrack loop for their Second Life Kentucky Derby. Have a listen ... >>>
